For May, USCIS confirmed that Dates for Filing will be used for Family-Sponsored categories, while Final Action Dates will apply to Employment-Based categories. In the F2A category, Dates for Filing remain current with no change, while the Final Action Date advanced significantly from 1 February 2024 to 1 August 2024. In the F2B category, Dates for Filing moved forward from 8 August 2017 to 1 January 2018, while the Final Action Date remains unchanged at 22 May 2017. Under the Diversity Visa program, the cutoff number for Europe remains at 20,000 for June, reflecting no movement. In the employment-based categories, EB-2 remains current for both Final Action Dates and Dates for Filing, while EB-3 shows no change, with the Final Action Date holding at 1 June 2024 and Dates for Filing remaining current. Notably, USCIS shifted from using Dates for Filing last month to Final Action Dates this month for employment-based categories, which required many cases to be filed proactively due to concerns over potential retrogression. In the Other Workers category, the Final Action Date advanced from 1 November 2021 to 1 February 2022, while the Dates for Filing remain unchanged at 1 August 2022.
