On June 5, 2026, the U.S. District Court for the District of Rhode Island vacated several USCIS policies that had suspended or delayed the adjudication of immigration benefits for nationals of countries subject to the administration's travel restrictions. The court also struck down related policies requiring re-review of previously approved immigration benefits and the broad pause on affirmative asylum adjudications.
As a result of the ruling, USCIS is no longer applying these policies and is expected to resume normal processing of affected applications. Although the decision represents a significant change for individuals whose cases were delayed under these measures, further litigation or appeals could affect future implementation.
