Visa Interview Reminder: Don’t Risk a Delay—Check Your DS-160

As of May 2025, U.S. consulates now require the DS-160 confirmation number (starting with “AA”) to exactly match the number on your visa appointment notice. If they don’t match, you won’t be allowed to attend your interview and will need to reschedule. In addition, your DS-160 form must be submitted at least two business days before your interview date. Submitting it too late can cause system errors and delays. You can update your DS-160 number once through your online account without canceling your appointment. Be sure to also check if your visa fee is still valid—fees paid over 365 days ago are now expired and must be repaid. Türkiye and Azerbaijan have already begun using new appointment systems, so stay alert for changes on your consulate’s website.
