As of April 11, 2025, USCIS has introduced a new requirement mandating biometric registration through Form G-325R (Biometric Information – Registration) for noncitizens who have not previously registered. This policy primarily targets undocumented individuals who have been in the U.S. for over 30 days. Under U.S. law, all aliens residing in the country for more than 30 days must register unless they fall under certain exceptions. Those who fail to comply may face civil and criminal penalties, including fines and jail time. The rule applies to noncitizens aged 14 and older who were not fingerprinted during visa processing, as well as to parents of unregistered minors and individuals who entered the U.S. without inspection or parole. Certain groups—such as green card holders, parolees, visa holders, and those with pending applications involving biometric submissions—are exempt. Additionally, all aliens aged 18 and older are required to carry proof of registration at all times. Not doing so may result in misdemeanor charges, fines of up to $5,000, or imprisonment.
